2010_08_26 Machlene: Rearend
2010_09_10 Biff: Rear End Preparation
We pulled the rear-end out of Cathy’s Convertible and disassembled it, detaching the brake drums and leaf springs and all the rest of it. Then we pressure-washed it to get all those years of grime and dust off, and will be storing all the components away until we reach the restoration and re-installation phase.
We’re grinding the rust off of the doors and front fenders. As you can see, some holes are appearing where the metal was rusted all the way through, so we’ll need to do some repairs there, though we think that, on the whole, the body parts are usable. We’ve also welded the right rear quarter panel on, so now there just needs to be some smoothing out done there.
January 9- Laurens’s Fenders and Rear Quarter
We’re continuing to clean up the front fenders, and Tim has etch primed and started welding the repair panel on. When he is finished we will smooth everything out and gray prime everything over.
November 20- Laurens’s Rear Quarter Panel
We took Adnan’s Convertible to a nearby shop to pull the transmission and inspect the seals. The tranny’s pretty grimy and needs servicing, so we pulled it and will be servicing it soon, and the rear main seal needs replacing. We’ll be posting more pics or the servicing soon.
