This is not true with Bob B. and his 1965 Mustang. Bob is the only owner this Mustang has ever had, from the day he picked it up at the Ford showroom back in 1965.

45 years ago, Bob B. walked into the L.B. Smith Ford dealership in Lemoyne, PA and picked up his new Wimbledon White 1965 Mustang convertible. As excited as he must have been to get his new car, who would have thought that 45 years and 143,000 miles later, his Mustang would still be in such AMAZING condition?!

From time to time, Bob will visit CJ Pony Service to have them replace a small piece here and there, but this Mustang is a very original, very well kept, classic muscle car. The body and interior are completely original, along with all 143,000 miles on the original engine. Talk about “Built Ford Tough”! Bob also has an original dealer installed Rally Pac and the rare bench seat option. The only major replacement Bob’s Mustang has needed over the years was a new convertible top… in 1989.

Once in 1975, Bob was thinking of trading in his prized Mustang on a new Ford sedan, but eventually turned down the small $350 offer that the dealership was willing to give him for his pony. Smart move, Bob!

Dolly-ed and bent fender to fit left hand side;  Cut fender brace to release stress;  Welded brace back together;  Welded fender to brace;  Grounded and shaped bottom fender mount hole, where fender mounts to rockers;  Worked with bottom arch on right hand fender;  Shaped and made ready to fit correctly;  Sent to paint;  Worked on right hand door;  Welded previous drill mounting holes closed for side mirror;  Welded gasket divider to bottom of door;  Made sure was primed before welding;  Made repair to door latch attachment holes in the end of the door; Welded hair line cracks and burr-grounded for camera case style finish;  Turned out very nice;  Worked on welding table some to get ready for left hand door repair;  Continued to do metal work on front rock deflector;  Tapped out bends and straightened dog ears;  Fabricated left hand dog ear and welded to reflector;  Shaped and made correct;  Nice repair;  Sent to paint for treatment.

Epoxy sprayed right hand door, made ready to send to paint; Spot primed rock deflector metal repairs, made ready to send to paint;  Sprayed light bucket right hand divider and screws, made ready to send to paint for black finish.

Continued to work on left hand fender;  Rolled pinch weld;  Pre-fit several times for line alignment;  Bent over pinch weld to shape and fit to rockers;  Note-  ran into problem with fender brace and the correct rolled arch of bottom of fender;  Worked on it several times for at least an hour, made some improvements, added some dents, will need to continue later;
