Located and cleaned and prepped the carburetor springs for restoration; Sent to paint and set up for Big Chief to paint;
Prepped for paint, rear hood lip under export brace mounts; Note- found no paint under export braces and lots of scratches and dirt and even paint cracks; Was not properly prepared when the existing beige paint job was done; See IMG 0196-0202; Cleaned area, wire brushed and sanded loose paint and paint cracks; Paint prepped; removed all grease and debris; Masked off area; Made ready for paint;Went to detail shop, cleaned and washed a/c chrome vents; Removed ducts and air direction switch in order to properly clean; Cleaned and washed a/c and heater switch vent, made ready for installation and connection; Washed other various parts, made ready for installation of heater and a/c;
Worked inside car under dash; Connected wires to heater box; Found broken clip on underdash heater ducts to the feet; Prepared once again heater duct bracket; Note- original glue did not hold, the ASB plastic; this part had a small crack and the cost to replace would have been $71; We decided to weld it together with JB weld; Drew was able to get last heater box mounting bolt through dash; Note- we had been trying previously for hours with no luck; Always install heater box before A/C box; Continued to install clutch pedal and brake pedal, rubber bumpers and washers; Installed light switch into dash and tested for working properly, A-ok; Located and cleaned and prepped the carburetor springs for restoration; Sent to paint and set up for Big Chief to paint
Located new replacement GT gas cap; Pre-fit to be sure all parts were present; Inspected gas cap to be sure it worked properly; Note- the last gas cap we ordered did not close properly and would not stay closed, had to be exchanged with last parts order; Removed gas tank fuel filler next; Noticed rusting around front lip, sent to paint to be prepared and painted;
Filled engine with oil 15W40 Shell Rotella-T Heavy Duty Diesel Oil; Filled tranny with 80W gear oil Carquest brand, took about 3 quarts; Filled radiator with water only, note- we did not use antifreeze because the radiator and the engine need a complete flush after ‘Stang is running and test-driving;
Located left hand heater and a/c control switch (the switch also doubles as a left-hand a/c vent); Tested to make sure working and to test electricals and sent to detail shop for cleaning and polishing; Located windshield washer pump and switch, sent to detail shop to be restored;
Worked in detail shop, removed rust, contaminants from windshield washer pump; removed electrical switches, masked rubber air bulb pump with Vaseline; made ready for paint;
