October 21- Adnan’s Cowl Inspection
Yep, we’re doing Adnan’s cowl, too! Unfortunately, the cowl is one area of Mustang restoration that many amateur restorers overlook or simply skip due to the time consuming process needed to properly restore them. This means that we get in Mustangs very often that have cowl leaks. We’ve disassembled Adnan’s interior and are getting up under the dash to begin his cowl repair. As you can see, the cowls (especially around the vent holes) have a lot of rust and some damage, so we’ll need to deal with the rust but also with the missing metal–we usually use fiberglass for these kinds of repairs.
October 3- Adnan’s Cowl Repair
Adnan has a leaking cowl, one of the most common rust and leak issues on these old Mustangs. The guys just started the disassembly of the interior of his Mustang to begin treating and repairing the cowl. It will need to be rust converted, undercoated, and maybe repaired with fiberglass or repair collars to stop the leak and prevent future leaks.
September 25- Adnan’s Transmission Cleaning
We’re chemical treating and cleaning up Adnan’s transmission here, and getting all the grime and old fluids drained out. We’ll be replacing the tranny oil pan’s gaskets to stop the leak and replacing all the transmission fluids.
Here is a slideshow of Timbo and P-Dog getting to work cleaning up the transmission and oil pan. As you can see, there’s a lot of grime and the gaskets are bad, so we’ll be cleaning these up and using up a new transmission service kit we purchased for Adnan’s Mustang, which includes transmission and engine oil pan gaskets and a rear main seal, all of which need replacing.
We took Adnan’s Convertible to a nearby shop to pull the transmission and inspect the seals. The tranny’s pretty grimy and needs servicing, so we pulled it and will be servicing it soon, and the rear main seal needs replacing. We’ll be posting more pics or the servicing soon.
September 22- Adnan’s Carburetor Rebuild
Here’s the newest addition to our Mustang Restoration Crew, Pat “P-Dog,” installing Adnan’s newly rebuilt carburetor! It was rebuilt by an independent contractor whom we really trust, and boy did it clean up nicely! On top of that, the engine runs great now. Check out the installation!
July 16- Inspection and Estimate
Here are some photos from your inspection and test drive. Edward will be reviewing what we found with you soon. We looked at the axles after discovering that the convertible were driving and handling roughly. The front drums are old, chipped, and broken. This is causing a rough drive at 60 mph+. You will be getting an inspection sheet and estimate soon!
And a few more that wouldn’t fit on the first slideshow…
Welcome Adnan!
Hi Adnan! Here you will be able to see photos from the latest work done on your Mustang. You can also comment on your entries! Check back once we start the inspection process.
