June 15-June 17 Inspection
by Big Chief
Tim and Mitch completed the inspection this week. They completely pulled the interior and trunk out to get to the damage. The rust is pretty extensive, but is definitely manageable. We will be sending a project sheet soon, so that you have a better idea of what work we will be doing.

After seeing these photos I’m wondering if it’s worth restoring this stang. I don’t want to put a whole lot of time and money into it only to have something else rust out. It seems the car cancer on this one is to far gone. I’m thinking we might be better off investing in another car that’s in better condition. Thoughts?

Hey Guys, Is this Darren or Cathy? My answer is always the same when I get asked this question, and I get asked this a lot. First, every ‘Stang is worth restoring, and not one can NOT be restored. Secondly, if you buy again, you always get some more unknown things to address. These vehicles are almost 50 years now. There will always be issues. In fact, 50% of the fun is addressing these things and making her better and better. For Cathy, it will be the sure pleasure of the beauty of the ‘Stang and the nostalgic value. Sure you may have paid too much for Her in this condition, but she is yours and you can’t just cast her out to the pasture? If you are afraid of it costing more than you can invest right now. Just do what you can afford and we can do more later. Make it your own and when you finish, you will know exactly what you got and how much work has been done. This would be my council on the matter. But I am here to do what you want, but at the same time give you all the experiences I have had and seen over many years… what you think.
PS Keep the Pony, and limit your budget for now. That is very easy to do with the way I do my projects. We place all we know on the Project Sheet and eliminate things based on budget. Every person has a budget, no matter who it is.

This is Cathy. After seeing how bad the rust is I’m left wondering what’s under the paint job? My concern is investing in this stang that doesn’t have a long life expectancy. My hope was to give it to my kids when they get MUCH older. I would love to come out and see her. I can come out any time/day… Just tell me when your availabe … Darren can come out starting this Sat(possiby) Sunday for sure…..

Darren just called me… Said he would be back in town late Friday. We could come out Sat. If your open. Darren tells me not to worry. Maybe this could be Darren Stang and we could find me another!? We have two different views, which equates to two Stangs!!!
