TAKEN OFF THE MARKET! Rick has decided to keep this baby!
Let Me Tell You About the Owner...
Our partner and long-time friend Doug met up with Rick recently out in Arizona and took a look at his great project Mustangs! Rick is a body and paint man from way back, with over thirty years of experience. He currently works on high-dollar exotic and luxury cars as an occupation and classic Mustangs as a hobby. He has two, both of which he is selling for financial reasons--a 1967 GT Fastback and a 1966 Coupe. He has had the '67 since about 1978, so he knows a lot of its history. He personally did bodywork restorations on it twice, back around 1980 and more recently in the mid-1990s--so it has a lot of non-original body metal, but the frames are solid and original and the Mustang itself is rust-free. He pulled the original A-Code 289 4v V8 and it is currently in mid-rebuild, and this will be included in the sale.
Rick's other Mustang is a 1966 Coupe that is all numbers-matching and has all original sheet metal. He and his family have had this Mustang in their family since 1969; he drove it as a teenager and finally inherited it in 1988. When his father owned it, he painted it Springtime Yellow, away from its original Seafoam Green, and Rick kept the color upon beginning the on-and-off-again restoration process that began in 1992, for sentimental reasons and to honor he and his father's Mustang tradition together. Now its time for Rick to pass on his family Mustangs to a new owner to carry on their journey.
Thank you for helping us save this beauty! She needs to be in the right hands: someone that will garage her, restore her, and love her.
MustangOnlyOne Summary:
What makes this 'Stang so great is that it is a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe that has has all the sheet metal and body work completed on it, and it also has its original, numbers-matching engine and tranny. It has a 289 2v V8 and a C4 automatic transmission, neither of which have been rebuilt, except for some minor engine work (valve job) in the '80s. It currently doesn't run, as it doesn't have the original carburetor hooked up, though Rick does have it and will send it with the Mustang. He also kept pretty much all the trim and all the glass (except the windshield), so you can install all of that during restoration. He has all of the interior, except the carpet. This car has manual drum brakes and aftermarket power steering, as well as a factory handling package. The real gem here is this Mustang's paintjob: Rick had it painted about three years ago using a very high-quality Urethane process, which included intensive sanding and polishing and six layers of clear coat! Remember, he chose to paint it Springtime Yellow instead of its original color, so this Mustang cannot be said to be all numbers-matching as-is. As we said already, Rick is a long-time body and paint man, so he knows what he's doing. This is a very solid, beautifully painted Mustang that has had all the rust treated and thus will make for a great restoration project.
