Let Me Tell You About the Owner...

We found Frank out in Pheonix, Arizona, and were lucky we did.  He's a great guy who really knows his cars--be they Chevelles or Mustangs.  Normally we're die-hard Mustang fans, but we can forgive him, because even we can't deny that Chevelles truly are beautiful cars.  This Mustang originally came from Washington state.  The original owner had it for about 10 years and brought it to Arizona in the late sixties.  A nurse and single mother then bought the car from him in 1978 and drove it until 1994, when she gave it to her son-in-law who intended to restore it.  However, it sat until 2000 un-restored until Frank found it and took over the restoration process.  By 2002 he had decided to make it a resto-mod, so he threw out its original 200 straight-6 and replaced it with a 4v 302, and also installed a new drivetrain, a mild cam, and rebuilt the original C4 auto transmission.

Because of the extra weight and power of the 8-cylinder 302, Frank had to replace the suspension system and rear end.  He installed an 8" rear end with air shocks, HD front suspension, and power disc brakes all around.  He has since completed the restoration, and though the paintjob is similar to its original Acupulco Blue, it is actually a 1976 Mustang Royal Blue.  He also added the striping on the sides and the chrome luggage rack on the trunk.

Thank you for helping us save this beauty!  She needs to be in the right hands: someone that will garage her, drive her, and love her.

MustangOnlyOne Summary:

This 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible was very meticulously restored by Frank to very high standards.  In addition to a full restoration, Frank installed some great additions: a 302 4v V8, HD front suspension, an 8" rear end with air shocks, power disc brakes all around, a chrome luggage rack, and dual chrome exhaust.  The paintjob is 1976 Mustang Royal Blue, is in excellent shape and looks great.  The chrome all other this car is fresh and beautiful, no damage or pitting.  The interior is fully restored and in excellent condition, with no tears in the seats or damage to the dash--though there is a significant tear on the inside layer of the convertible top (see Inspection).  The engine and trunk compartments are beautifully clean and rust-free, very well treated and painted.  The undercarraige is rust-free, save for some minor (and expected) surface rust on the joints of the exhaust and a few other places, though for the most part it is all black and beautiful.  This car runs like a dream and will last in great condition for years--Frank did a good job, ensuring that the age will not set in for a while yet.  For overall frame preservation and reliability, MustangOnlyOne gives this car a 10 out of 10 points as a resto-mod, understanding that a lot of the original components of the car were intentionally discarded in favor of hi-po upgrades; furthermore, this car is mechanically excellent.  For overall quality and performance, MustangOnlyOne gives this car a 9 out of 10 points, the only thing keeping it from a perfect 10 is the unsightly tear on the inside layer of the convertible top.  Fortunately, this can be repaired relatively easy, in which case you would have an even better car than what this baby already is.
