MachLene's 1969 Ford Mustang Mach I Clone

Let Me Tell You About the Owner...

This Shelby Cobra belongs to MachLene's husband, who we've nicknamed CobraJax! It's a 1964 Shelby Cobra 289 FIA replica roadster that was manufactured by North America Fiberglass. The 289 model was only manufactured for a couple of years and there were two models: a racing model (which was governed by the Federacion Internacionale de Automobil - FIA) and a street model; MachLene and CobraJax have the racing model. There is a larger version of the Cobra that came later, a 427 model with a bigger frame and engine, but MachLene and CobraJax really don't like that one...in MachLene's words, "it looks like its on steroids!" The cool thing about these old Shelbys, according to MachLene, is that the young guys don't know what it is and the older ones want to hear the engine...which is very funny! Now it's time for MachLene to get a "Hers" to CobraJax's "His," and we're glad to help them. We'll be doing a few minor repairs on this Mustang before it gets to her and installing an A/C unit...we decided to go ahead and jump on this because it's just a few repairs and not a full restoration, so we didn't want to make them wait many months in the Restorations waiting line.

Here's CobraJax's and MachLene's 2010 Mustang, their modern counterpart to the 1969 Mach I Clone we're working on for them. The 2010 Mustang is the last model to have the 4.0L V6 engine (the 2011's are down-sizing to the 3.7L V6, though it does seem to product more horsepower), which was introduced for the Fifth Gen Mustangs in 2005. Fortunately, 2011 will see the return of the famed 5.0L 302 V8 Ford engine! We think it's the best engine Ford ever made--small but powerful, it had a little bit of character without being absurd. Either way, though, the best V6 Ford has to offer is being pulled from the Mustang, so these V6 Ponies may be the next pearl you find in a barn somewhere in twenty years, so start collecting now!

Summary

MachLene bought this driver from Jolliff, and we've taken it into our shop, where we will install air conditioning and do some minor repairs, such as in the wiring, to get this Mustang Mach I Clone into really good driver condition.
